When we asked Jonas what has kept him engaged throughout six years at Leadout, he didn’t talk about staying comfortable. He talked about taking ownership, working with complex organisations and inspiring colleagues, continuously expanding his expertise and the satisfaction of seeing his work create measurable results for clients.
When experience meets uncertainty
A client was undergoing a major digital transformation, in line with their cloud first strategy. Applications were re-designed and moving to containerized environments, new software vendors were entering the landscape, and technology was changing faster than traditional governance processes could keep up. Visibility was limited, while licensing and commercial risks continued to grow.
The team first had to understand the client’s environment and then quickly adapt to technologies and challenges they hadn’t encountered before.
“We had to step outside our comfort zone. We had to learn quickly, adapt our approach and find new ways of collecting the information we needed, while still upholding our standards,” Jonas recalls.
Years of experience in software asset management meant Jonas could quickly identify where the biggest risks would emerge, helping the team prioritise what mattered most from the very beginning.
The work didn’t stop with recommendations. Together with the client, the team established governance, implemented new ways of working and built a software asset management capability from the ground up, delivering lasting visibility and control across more than 70 software publishers. Within the first year, the engagement generated more than a million realised savings while identifying and mitigating several million euros in additional financial risk.
Where real impact begins
“The most rewarding part is seeing something you built continue to create value,” Jonas says. “When a process or tool you introduced is adopted across the organisation, or colleagues build on something you created, you know you’ve left your mark.”
For Jonas, that’s what real impact looks like. The team stayed involved, helping the client embed new ways of working that continued creating value long after the engagement itself.
Looking back over six years, Jonas sees the same progression in his own career.
What began with delivering complex client work gradually evolved into leading engagements, supporting colleagues and helping others develop with the same confidence and attention to detail.
Why this matters
Experienced professionals rarely stay motivated simply by moving from one project to the next. They’re looking for work where they can solve meaningful challenges, continue learning and see the difference their expertise makes.
Meaningful work comes from the opportunity to make a difference. Not by delivering another report, but by staying involved, solving complex challenges, thinking value-add and seeing your work continue to create value long after the engagement has finished.
That is what has kept Jonas engaged throughout six years at Leadout. Not simply the variety of projects, but the opportunity to leave every client, every team and every engagement stronger than he found it.
